Open ID is The Way to Go Ask Windows Live

Hi Peep,

So what’s the big deal with Windows Live talking about integrating Open ID as a way to log into and use Windows Live?

Well this is what OpenId does…

OpenID eliminates the need for multiple usernames across different websites, simplifying your online experience.

Think about how many sites do you belong to? Ever forgotten what your login id was or your password? It’s not a problem if you’re using the exact same username for every site you have… ever heard of data portability…?

DataPortability - Connect, Control, Share, Remix from Smashcut on Vimeo.

Did you know that you may actually already have an OPEN ID… do you have an account with any of the following sites…?

AOL: openid.aol.com/screenname
Blogger: blogname.blogspot.com
Flickr: www.flickr.com/photos/username
LiveDoor: profile.livedoor.com/
LiveJournal username.livejournal.com
Orange (France Telecom) http://openid.orange.fr/
SmugMug username.smugmug.com
Technorati technorati.com/people/technorati/username
Vox member.vox.com
Yahoo http://openid.yahoo.com
WordPress.com username.wordpress.com

I just recently used my wordpress username(because I couldn’t recall my OPEN ID id…) to log in to some social media type site… I don’t recall which site it was @ this moment… ; P

Now obviously some of those IDs/usernames you use on some of those sites are already taken… like if you had “vlog” as a ID/username for technorati.com but someone had it for flickr and they beat you to it… using “vlog” as their OPEN ID…

so go ahead and check to see if your id/password works or just go and create an OPEN ID and remember it…

iJustine Hosting PluggedIn 5 the Internet’s Newest Music Show Launching Today

Hi Peep,

Today is the launch of “PlugginedIn” 5, the Internet’s newest music show hosted by iJustine.

In each of these web episodes they are going to show 5 music videos & each show has a different theme. Look for new webisodes every Monday and Thurday. Now onto the Top 8 Reasons to Watch iJustine & PluggedIn 5(are you going to watch it for iJustine or for the music…? ; P) …

Top 8 Reasons to Watch
01. We are equal opportunity music lovers.
02. The show is rocked out w/a signature style.
03. Weʼre highly savvy, but never condescending.
04. We stream at HD quality over the web.
05. Our themes are funny, topical and relevant.
06. We’re independent and the authority on it all.
07. iJustine is more than just iCandy. Sheʼs real.
08. Our insider views of LA are unprecedented.

Now this is cool…

“PluggedIn is the only place on the web today where music fans can enjoy free access to more than 10,000 licensed music videos and live concerts in HD and broadcast quality from major music companies such as EMI Music, the world’s leading independent music company, Sony-BMG, and an influential group of other major and independent music labels.”

That’s all & good, but hey, what would a launch about a new music show be without video right…? Here you go…

YouTube Version…

There is ONE “major” problem I found while trying to watch a video on PluggedIn…

I’m using the Flock browser which is based on mozilla firefox… oh well…

Have fun.

YouTube Finally Lets You Directly Link To Any Part Of Your Video

Hi Peeps,

So Google Video has allowed anyone to link to any part of a video that they host… so if you wanted someone to watch a video starting at an hour and 17 minutes into a three hour video(for example) then you could. This has been available for over two years…

Now you can FINALLY do this with YouTube vids… it’s about time!

All you have to do is add this code snippet “#t=5m17s” to the end of the YouTube link(not the Embed code but the link you find in the URL field). As you can guess 5m equates to 5 minutes and 17s is 17 seconds… so you’re linking directly to 5 minutes and 17 seconds into the video.

So anything before the “m” are the minutes and anything between the “m” & “s” are the seconds

Here’s an example(video opens in new window)…
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mteMQh5zD0c#t=1m38s

As you can see, the video starts @ 1 minute and 38 seconds into the video.

So far it looks like there is no way to embed YouTube videos to play starting @ any point other than the very beginning of the video…

Hi Peeps,

So there’s this site called AppLoop… where you can actually turn your blog, yes YOUR BLOG, into an iPhone App using their App Generator…! It takes your RSS Feed and turns it into an iPhone Application. Pretty cool, eh?

Now you can’t actually use it… it’s in close Beta but guess what…? You can fill out the form with the url of the blog you wish to convert to an App, email address that uses the blog domain’s url and choose your approximate RSS Subscribers from the drop down list… iPhone Application Generator Invite Request

Check out what your AppLoop Reports Dashboard will look like(see the sidebar?! LOTS of info - read: demographics - on peeps using your newly created iPhone App):

There is also the AppLoop Network that you can promote stuff on! Sweet! You can…
Advertise a Webpage - make sure to create an iPhone optimized landing page.
Promote an Application - links directly to your download page to install the application.
Advertise Content in iTunes - just provide your iTunes Link
Advertise an Address - Yes, you can point peeps directly to your brick & mortar store using Map Query(Google Maps App)!
Promote Video Content - link peeps directly to your YouTube videos(or any Quicktime-compatible file, makes sense since it’s an Apple iPhone related site…)

iPhone Application Generator Demo from AppLoop on Vimeo.

There’s the AppLoop Wiki for AppLoop Analytics and Advertising.

Oh yeah… AppLoop was created by these two guy: Eric Kerr & Ashwani Kumar. Their hyperlinked names go to their Twitter accounts…

Happy 3rd Anniversary Myspace & Robert Murdoch!

Hi Peeps,

So it’s been three years since Robert Murdoch bought Myspace. It seemed kind’a crazy at the time shelling out 580 million buckaroos for it… and heck, eventhough they didn’t hit their target revenue target of $ONE BILLION… um, they manages to bring in a paltry sum of

Of course there was that HUGE controversy surrounding the whole issue of Tom not really being the creator of MySpace and how investors were scammed into selling it to Mr. Murdoch for “too cheap”!

So *The Real Story Behind MySpace written by MySpace Founder Brad Greenspan makes for a VERY interesting read. It goes into who Tom really is and why it was a mistake to sell-out for only $580 billion to Murdoch. I read it a long time ago…

*not the actual title of “The MySpace Report” but I wrote this “new” title because it explains what it’s really about… and now I’m sure that brad is Extremely happy about hisLawsuit Arising from Unfair Sale of MySpace to News Corp to Proceed to Trial…

Facebook is MySpace’s main competition… so let’s check out some statistical comparisons (provided by compete.com) between MySpace & Facebook:

Velocity reports the relative change in daily Attention. Velocity is used to determine the relative growth of a domain over a particular timeframe or compared to other sites.

Now MySpace has the same Apps as Facebook… they just don’t work on the MySpace platform all that well I’d say… Facebook does a way better job of integrating Apps on their platform.

Maybe I’m biased(doubt it)…

I’m on Facebook WAY more than MySpace… although I may check out MySpace Karaoke and MySpace’
s classifieds very soon… I mean I’ve looked at the pages but haven’t used them yet… and, of course there’s MySpace Music…

Have an awesome time on MySpace and Facebook Peeps!

God Bless,
Yoon
