Hi Peeps,
So I’ve been incommunicado for almost THREE Weeks… WOW! Sorry about that… I was The BEST Man for my friend Eric’s Wedding and was preoccupied with a bunch of other stuff… and yes, I’ll admit… I had a bout of procrastination…
Okay so enough about my excuses…
Have you ever taken a look at Google Trends? Ever used it? I mean besides typing in “Britney Spears” or clicking on celebrity names that are listed… Google Trends
And you’ll want to check out the Top One Hundred Hot Trends on Google This is a literal goldmine of keywords that people are using to search for Hot Topics.
I came across “Google Trends Made My Underwear Turn Brown”… now before you get completely turned off by Patrick Curl’s blog post title do check out the incredible Traffic Stats he reveals from using Google Trends and the amount of traffic he received from link-baiting… about Joe Biden & *Sarah Palin in his blog post titled ‘16 Places-to-get-the-dish-on-joe-biden-and-sarah-palin/
But Patrick breaks down how much traffic he has received from using Google Trends to Get some SERIOUS Blog Traffic. From Aug 29th… There’s a Blog In My Soup’s Google Analytics Traffic breakdown for Hurricane Gustav He even shows you the screen shot from his Google Analytics account…
I’d recommend subscribing to his RSS Feed and reading his blog because he mentioned writing 25, yes, TWENTY-FIVE, posts on Google Trends.
Now you may be thinking ‘but his blog has nothing to do with Tropical Storm Hannah, Hurricane Hannah, or Hurricane Gustav or weather in general’ as even Patrick admits to…
…and my site’s not even about weather related topics.
But what if you had a website, blog or affiliate site for emergency kits…? You could probably do quite well right? Can we say MASSIVE TARGETED traffic AND LOTS of sales? And maybe you’d do real well with “gaming” Google Adsense when these natural disasters strike. And since many of these Natural Disasters are Seasonal… well, you could pre-prepare for them and have articles, blog posts, audios, videos, etc. all set to publish and have affiliate products or your own products and services ready to promote.
Or maybe you could do something awesome and take up donations to help with food, shelter, water and anything else people need in those affected areas.
You may also want to take a closer look @ and gain Insights into what the world is searching for.
With Google Insights for Search, you can compare search volume patterns across specific regions, categories, and time frames.
And you might as well check out Google Website Trends, compare multiple websites to see where you may want to put more of your blog-traffic-sucking emphasis on… AND you could, for example, see if these peeps in your niche market with sites that are trending upwards use Adsense and decide to target those sites using your Adwords account. Test this and see if you can monetize that traffic.
You can always compare yourself with your competition and see if what you’re advertising and marketing is working… are YOU Trending upwards?
You may also want to check out Compete.com, TrendWatching.com and TrendHunter.com for more ideas on HOT Topics and TRENDS to create massive blog traffic. Who knows. Maybe you’ll be able to monetize those new site visitors.
*about Sarah Palin… as of this post she is listed as #54 on Google Trends for “sarah palin action figure”. Who knows, maybe she’ll be THE Hit Christmas Toy for 2008? T-shirts anyone? Wonder if anyone’s created one of those Boxing Glove Sarah Palin Action Figures yet?
God Bless,
Yoon
P.S. You may notice that a LOT of the HOT Trends and keywords happen to by celebrity and entertainment related. Maybe you should create a celebrity/entertainment site…? Use Google Trends and those other sites I listed above and see what happens.
P.P.S. So one of the BIG reasons to implement Google Trends to your list of Traffic Tools? More Subscribers; both email and RSS Feed peeps. Grab the traffic, get them to take action and do follow-ups. [Wash, Rinse and] Repeat.
