Press Release: Twitter for Business: Twitter for Friends

Creating A More Useful Twitter? Twitter for Business: Twitter for Friends” Aims To Educate Twitter Users For The Benefit Of All

Why is the whole world talking about Twitter? Mark Aaron Murnahan (Twitter @murnahan) answered many questions about Twitter each day, until the Twitter community asked him to write a book about it. The book reveals how Twitter can be more beneficial to users, and that it is much more than an “update service”. Author is available for interview, via telephone or Skype. Call 1-866-293-2489 to schedule.

Topeka, Kansas – 10 August 2009: Twitter has created a communication style that cannot be denied. With millions of users “tweeting” the latest happenings, it is hard to call it a fad. After learning of a structure fire one hundred yards away from home that was reported on Twitter by a local television station, Murnahan was convinced that Twitter deserved a closer look.

It is easy to see that television, radio, and print media have found usefulness in Twitter, and Hollywood clearly loves “tweeting”. Last fall, presidential candidates rushed to the service, and during an outbreak of Swine Flu, the Centers for Disease Control used it to send and receive updates. All of this publicity leads many people to Twitter.com each day to find out what it is all about. Some of them are still left with a lot of questions on how it can be useful to them. The Twitter community generally tries to help others, but with the explosive growth of new users, the community can become overburdened.

“The simplicity of Twitter makes it very attractive. That same simplicity also leaves many people with questions of how it can be useful in their business and personal lives. I want to answer those questions.” –Mark Aaron Murnahan

“Twitter for Business: Twitter for Friends” is available on Amazon.com and is expected to be released in major retail outlets soon.

About the Author

Mark’s background in Internet technology reaches back to the mid-1990’s, and he is the CEO of YourNew.com, Inc. He has used Twitter to engage with thousands of people around the world. It has been a study in people, cultures, current events, friendship, business development, and public relations. With over 22,000 Twitter updates to-date, hundreds of thousands reading his “tweets”, and frequently topping the charts at third party user rating services, it is easy to see that this book was written by a true fan of Twitter.

Facebook Acquires FriendFeed Press Release

PALO ALTO, CALIF.—August 10, 2009—Facebook today announced that it has agreed to acquire FriendFeed, the innovative service for sharing online. As part of the agreement, all FriendFeed employees will join Facebook and FriendFeed’s four founders will hold senior roles on Facebook’s engineering and product teams.

“Facebook and FriendFeed share a common vision of giving people tools to share and connect with their friends,” said Bret Taylor, a FriendFeed co-founder and, previously, the group product manager who launched Google Maps. “We can’t wait to join the team and bring many of the innovations we’ve developed at FriendFeed to Facebook’s 250 million users around the world.”

“As we spent time with Mark and his leadership team, we were impressed by the open, creative culture they’ve built and their desire to have us contribute to it,” said Paul Buchheit, another FriendFeed co-founder. Buchheit, the Google engineer behind Gmail and the originator of Google’s “Don’t be evil” motto, added, “It was immediately obvious to us how passionate Facebook’s engineers are about creating simple, ground-breaking ways for people to share, and we are extremely excited to join such a like-minded group.”

Taylor and Buchheit founded FriendFeed along with Jim Norris and Sanjeev Singh in October 2007 after all four played key roles at Google for products like Gmail and Google Maps. At FriendFeed, they’ve brought together a world-class team of engineers and designers.

“Since I first tried FriendFeed, I’ve admired their team for creating such a simple and elegant service for people to share information,” said Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook founder and CEO. “As this shows, our culture continues to make Facebook a place where the best engineers come to build things quickly that lots of people will use.”

FriendFeed is based in Mountain View, Calif. and has 12 employees. FriendFeed.com will continue to operate normally for the time being as the teams determine the longer term plans for the product.

Financial terms of the acquisition were not released.

How to Use Google Trends To Create Massive Blog Traffic

Hi Peeps,

So I’ve been incommunicado for almost THREE Weeks… WOW! Sorry about that… I was The BEST Man for my friend Eric’s Wedding and was preoccupied with a bunch of other stuff… and yes, I’ll admit… I had a bout of procrastination…

Okay so enough about my excuses…

Have you ever taken a look at Google Trends? Ever used it? I mean besides typing in “Britney Spears” or clicking on celebrity names that are listed… Google Trends

And you’ll want to check out the Top One Hundred Hot Trends on Google This is a literal goldmine of keywords that people are using to search for Hot Topics. :!:

I came across “Google Trends Made My Underwear Turn Brown”… now before you get completely turned off by Patrick Curl’s blog post title do check out the incredible Traffic Stats he reveals from using Google Trends and the amount of traffic he received from link-baiting… about Joe Biden & *Sarah Palin in his blog post titled ‘16 Places-to-get-the-dish-on-joe-biden-and-sarah-palin/

But Patrick breaks down how much traffic he has received from using Google Trends to Get some SERIOUS Blog Traffic. From Aug 29th… There’s a Blog In My Soup’s Google Analytics Traffic breakdown for Hurricane Gustav He even shows you the screen shot from his Google Analytics account…

I’d recommend subscribing to his RSS Feed and reading his blog because he mentioned writing 25, yes, TWENTY-FIVE, posts on Google Trends.

Now you may be thinking ‘but his blog has nothing to do with Tropical Storm Hannah, Hurricane Hannah, or Hurricane Gustav or weather in general’ as even Patrick admits to…

…and my site’s not even about weather related topics.

But what if you had a website, blog or affiliate site for emergency kits…? You could probably do quite well right? Can we say MASSIVE TARGETED traffic AND LOTS of sales? And maybe you’d do real well with “gaming” Google Adsense when these natural disasters strike. And since many of these Natural Disasters are Seasonal… well, you could pre-prepare for them and have articles, blog posts, audios, videos, etc. all set to publish and have affiliate products or your own products and services ready to promote.

Or maybe you could do something awesome and take up donations to help with food, shelter, water and anything else people need in those affected areas.

You may also want to take a closer look @ and gain Insights into what the world is searching for.

With Google Insights for Search, you can compare search volume patterns across specific regions, categories, and time frames.

And you might as well check out Google Website Trends, compare multiple websites to see where you may want to put more of your blog-traffic-sucking emphasis on… AND you could, for example, see if these peeps in your niche market with sites that are trending upwards use Adsense and decide to target those sites using your Adwords account. Test this and see if you can monetize that traffic.

You can always compare yourself with your competition and see if what you’re advertising and marketing is working… are YOU Trending upwards?

You may also want to check out Compete.com, TrendWatching.com and TrendHunter.com for more ideas on HOT Topics and TRENDS to create massive blog traffic. Who knows. Maybe you’ll be able to monetize those new site visitors.

*about Sarah Palin… as of this post she is listed as #54 on Google Trends for “sarah palin action figure”. Who knows, maybe she’ll be THE Hit Christmas Toy for 2008? T-shirts anyone? Wonder if anyone’s created one of those Boxing Glove Sarah Palin Action Figures yet?

God Bless,
Yoon

P.S. You may notice that a LOT of the HOT Trends and keywords happen to by celebrity and entertainment related. Maybe you should create a celebrity/entertainment site…? Use Google Trends and those other sites I listed above and see what happens.

P.P.S. So one of the BIG reasons to implement Google Trends to your list of Traffic Tools? More Subscribers; both email and RSS Feed peeps. Grab the traffic, get them to take action and do follow-ups. [Wash, Rinse and] Repeat.

What's The Buzz All About Yahoo!?

Hi Peeps,

[Yoon's Update: After finally finishing this blog post I noticed an email from Buzz Publisher Relations, Subject: It is official, Yahoo! Buzz is open containing this image...]

Yahoo! Buzz

Yahoo! Buzz

Now many of you have probably either read or seen for yourself how anyone could make comparisons between Yahoo! Buzz and Digg… now you have a choice: Buzz Up! or digg it!

There are LOTS of Yahoo! Buzz buttons you can add to your blog
Yahoo! Buzz Up Buttons

Muhammed Saleem wrote a “thumbs up” post back in February espousing the virtues(my words, not his) of Why Yahoo! buzz is a Brilliant Idea
(http://www.readwriteweb.com/archives/why_yahoo_buzz_is_a_brilliant_idea.php)

Will Yahoo! still carry on with this requirement that publishers being added to Buzz had to make sure they didn’t use Google Adsense but had to be part of YPN(Yahoo! Publishers Network) instead…?

The second question that has to be about the ad sharing agreement that Yahoo! required users to join as a part of being added to Buzz. Yahoo! told selected publishers that they had to be a part of the Yahoo! Publishers Network instead of AdSense. That didn’t seem very realistic at the time and presumably the requirement goes out the window now. Or does it? Editorial and advertising weren’t separated in the first iteration of Buzz – how separate will they be now?

– source quote Read Write Web

Would this mean that you & I cannot Buzz Up! articles, audios, videos or any other content from sites using Adsense…? Will they somehow post-screen submissions?

Hi Plurkers,

I have finally written to powers that be @ Plurk.com asking them… well, hereès what i sent them…

==========Start of Yoon’s Plurk T-Shirt Design & Plurk T-Shirt Design Competition Request==========
Hi A-Team,

I have asked the biggest Plurk Fans Page on Facebook and they would like to see a plurk t-shirt and a t-shirt design competition.

I just noticed someone who had some Plurk jewelry designs…

What rules do you have about someone creating Plurk-related t-shirts and/or putting on a Plurk t-shirt design competition?

I would like to ask your permission to go ahead and do something cool like promoting Plurk with cool tees. But I’d really like your blessings and want to make sure I don’t cross any copyright infringements or create any problems for you by creating Plurk tees and launching a plurk design campaign w/out your full support.

Thanks in advance for your response.
God Bless,
Yoon

P.S. Thanks for all the work you are doing with Plurk.com. The improvements have been great! ; P
