How to Manufacture & Create Your Own Buzz on YouTube It’s Not What You Think

Hi Peeps,

So how do you manufacture your own buzz with YouTube the “traditional” way…? Is there a way to Jumpstart your way to the top…?

Well, you make whacky videos that “have to do with nothing” or “have nothing to do with anything”… kind’a like Seinfeld was a show about nothing… ; P

Okay, many of these viral vids are on some topic that’s cool, celebrity oriented like making spoofs of their videos if they’re musicians or putting a spin on topics, etc. Lots of times there are gimmicks involved… let’s say like a certain linguist on YouTube who wears revealing clothes(can I call them clothes…? More like lingerie…).

So you can use your sexiness to create buzz.

Or make a series of videos where you sing covers to popular songs. I been there and seen Esmee Denters do this.

I’ve been there almost from the beginning with Venetian Princess. I knew who she really was before almost EVERYbody else on YouTube.

I was there watching lonelygirl15(I have pics of her, the actress Jessica Rose, up on Flickr…)… it was pure genius. Maybe you recall the ensuing craziness when people found out it was “fake”. The raging debate about how “she’s real!” and “she’s a fake!” and the nasty comments…

All these videos have gone massively viral. A lot of it due to the viral nature of YouTube itself, with the ability to embed the vids all over the Internet and the fact that millions do hit the site everyday… plus it does help to have your vid Featured on YouTube(goes without saying…).

But is there a way to get your video(s) in front of eyeballs fast without having to wait and see if people might check out your channel or individual vids. Plus, it’s a really fast way to see if people will even check out your vid(s)… and then you can tweek your profile & see if that helps you go viral…

Now you can get your YouTube videos Sponsored right on the site! So now you can create your own buzz without having to wait and let the buzz happen “naturally” or the “traditional” way… basically you’ll be able to manufacture & create your own buzz via YouTube PPC Ads!

[note]: YouTube Sponsored Search & YouTube PPC are the same thing in case you were wondering…

Will there be a backlash against this “non-traditional” user-generated buzz…? Or should I call it owner-generated buzz…?

The majority of YouTubers seem to think that everything should be free and might hate that you’re “using/trading money to get YouTube views”.

It’s pretty awesome to be able to tag keywords and have peeps go to your channel or individual videos.

The question you’ll want to ask yourself is: Do You Want People Watching Your Video?

And quoting from YouTube…

Do you think your video can be the next big thing? Are you frustrated that people can’t find your video on YouTube?

It will be fun to see the results people are seeing from using the sponsored search… wonder how this will impact Google Search Results…? Since many results on Google are showing at least one video on the first page, does this portend that more videos will show up on Google…? Maybe even in the Sponsored listing…? At this time I highly doubt it since Adwords Advertisers are most likely spending WAY more on their keyword listings than it costs to use YouTube’s PPC Service…

And will Featured Videos be based somewhat on the amount of money you put into YouTube Sponsored Videos…? The more you spend advertising with YouTube the better the chance you will be a Featured Video? Now that would be worth the price of admission…! ; P

Now if you are using Google Adwords already… make those videos and take advantage of “YouTube Adwords” <==because that's pretty much what this is... am I the first one to call it YouTube Adwords...? They will obviously integrate this into Adwords somehow... but more importantly...

You've heard of First Mover's Advantage? Then what are you waiting for? Get stared creating your manufactured buzz using YouTube's Sponsored Video Promotions Now!

Now you will want to have the same "qualities" that past YouTube videos have had... like using the cute girl, doing parodies, etc. People love to be entertained, don't make some boring corporate video... think "edutainment" if you're a business using video(especially on YouTube).

And wouldn't YouTube PPC be an excellent way to tag covers to those popular songs? So people will see your videos singing their fave songs. You could very well be on your way to YouTube(& beyond) super stardom!

So don't forget to have some end goal(s) in mind while you create & manufacture your buzz!

One of the questions YouTubers might have...

Is the buzz for real? Or was it manufactured...?

Does it really matter?

God Bless,
Yoon

P.S. Once you Jumpstart Your Buzz on YouTube & your videos start gaining traction, getting popular and buzz-worthy… you can *stop your YouTube Sponsored Search spending & the viral buzz will continue unabated(won’t stop)… once your vids are on fire who can stop it right…? ; P

*you may want to keep doing some YouTube PPC since it’s already helped you to get to where you want to be…

Hi Peeps,

Do not click on posts on your wall that look like…

You don’t ever want to see Your Facebook Profile’s Wall
Looking Like This…! Oh My! ; P

I feel sorry for the guy Tom who’s profile has been hacked & used to send LOTS of wall posts using derivatives of the one used on my wall(see the above Wall Post Message image) & using many other URLS like(DO NOT visit these links)…

-did u know your facebook pic was just featured on atomiopia.com
-heyyy has anyone told you your faceboook pic was jusst featured on wayopoly.com
-heyyy has anyone told you your defaault image is displayed on wayium.com

So far those are the links I’ve found just by following the wall post messages from the dude’s Facebook Profile… someone posted the exact message above with the different domain names between 8:19 PM - 9:34 PM yesterday, Nov. 11, 2008… on Remembrance Day of all days…

What’s really dangerous is that some of these people are known Internet Marketers & have LOTS of friends and the fact that I could still find the Wall Posts there on their Walls… that’s not good… that’s what you call a potentially out of control Viral Virus… only people I’m not familiar with posted on the poor dude’s profile warning him…

There is a lot of overlap as these guys are friends with each other, but still… there’s that potential “outbreak” of the virus, see how many friends these recognizable names have(you may even have them as your own Facebook Friends)…

Jim Turner has 4,997 friends
Mike Aldridge has 2,511
Alex Perez-Prat has 1,842
Kristen Darkenwald 4,430
Reed Floren has 2,807
Adam Urbanski has 3,874
Willie Crawford 3,001
Bill Covert has 4,998
Trey Pennington has 3,947
Brian Campbell has 4,217
Michel Fortin has 4,998
Warren Whitlock 4,051
Yoon Ho Um has 115 Facebook Friends… ; P

So I deleted the above wall post. Don’t want any of my 114 FB Friends to get infected & hacked from clicking on that link from my wall… why 114 when I have 115 friends? Easy. One of them already got infected ‘n hacked from somewhere else… ; P

I did encounter something like this last night on someone’s friend’s profile… you will have a hard time closing your Flock browser tab, two lame pop up messages that keep on popping up… ANNOYING!

So you’ve been WARNED…

Hi Peeps,

Now you may have already seen the video I’m about to reveal to you below… & you will see how many ways I’ve already seen w/ my very own eyes that this {geek} video has been spread by the power of social media.

1. I have a “youtube :: recently featured” feed in my “My World” using my Flock browser. Hey when you see a title like “Star Wars” - an a capella tribute to John Williams your inner geek has to see it… so I went to YouTube and saw this cool vid(I did skip through on my first viewing…):

So you obviously need a COOL Video to go viral… and it sure does help when you’re FEATURED on YouTube…! ; P

2. I head on over to Facebook & see this(FB friend posts vid with his own comment,, see below):

3. And Becky “Aktrez” Young Facebook profile had her Tweet(from her personal Twitter account) show up on her wall…

4. which led me to check out the Girls Gaming Network Twitter Profile where I saw…

5. Which lead me back to “Star Wars” - an a capella tribute to John Williams…

So make a cool youtube vid, maybe it will be Featured by YouTube(Canada first & then Worldwide?), and people will use Facebook to share it & talk about it on Twitter… ; P Oh yeah AND Blog About It! ; P

So I guess 6. Yoon blogs about your video… ; P

Dearest Babushka I Finally Understand What Your YouTube Video Captions Are Saying To Me

Hi Peeps,

You may not really care that your videos are in English and that all your captions are in English too… but what is poor ole ба́бушка(Babushka) to do…? She still wants to understand what is going on with your YouTube videos…

Well, thanks to Google Translate, anyone can now translate your captions from English(or Italian) into Russian…

So now I can also go to ба́бушка’s or Abuela’a or 할머니’s or दादी माँ’s or Oma’s YouTube Videos & Translate Their YouTube Video Captions and find out what they’re all about… well, it would be nice once someone figures out how to automatically translate the audios into English… but hey! this is pretty cool, eh?

Now you can add notes to your videos so your non-English reading family & friends can watch your videos and follow along with your now-in-their-language captions. So in a way you could say that the world just got a little bit smaller… ; P

God Bless,
Yoon

P.S. In case you haven’t noticed before… here are some other translation type stuff on youTube…

Open ID is The Way to Go Ask Windows Live

Hi Peep,

So what’s the big deal with Windows Live talking about integrating Open ID as a way to log into and use Windows Live?

Well this is what OpenId does…

OpenID eliminates the need for multiple usernames across different websites, simplifying your online experience.

Think about how many sites do you belong to? Ever forgotten what your login id was or your password? It’s not a problem if you’re using the exact same username for every site you have… ever heard of data portability…?

DataPortability - Connect, Control, Share, Remix from Smashcut on Vimeo.

Did you know that you may actually already have an OPEN ID… do you have an account with any of the following sites…?

AOL: openid.aol.com/screenname
Blogger: blogname.blogspot.com
Flickr: www.flickr.com/photos/username
LiveDoor: profile.livedoor.com/
LiveJournal username.livejournal.com
Orange (France Telecom) http://openid.orange.fr/
SmugMug username.smugmug.com
Technorati technorati.com/people/technorati/username
Vox member.vox.com
Yahoo http://openid.yahoo.com
WordPress.com username.wordpress.com

I just recently used my wordpress username(because I couldn’t recall my OPEN ID id…) to log in to some social media type site… I don’t recall which site it was @ this moment… ; P

Now obviously some of those IDs/usernames you use on some of those sites are already taken… like if you had “vlog” as a ID/username for technorati.com but someone had it for flickr and they beat you to it… using “vlog” as their OPEN ID…

so go ahead and check to see if your id/password works or just go and create an OPEN ID and remember it…

God Bless,
Yoon

iJustine Hosting PluggedIn 5 the Internet’s Newest Music Show Launching Today

Hi Peep,

Today is the launch of “PlugginedIn” 5, the Internet’s newest music show hosted by iJustine.

In each of these web episodes they are going to show 5 music videos & each show has a different theme. Look for new webisodes every Monday and Thurday. Now onto the Top 8 Reasons to Watch iJustine & PluggedIn 5(are you going to watch it for iJustine or for the music…? ; P) …

Top 8 Reasons to Watch
01. We are equal opportunity music lovers.
02. The show is rocked out w/a signature style.
03. Weʼre highly savvy, but never condescending.
04. We stream at HD quality over the web.
05. Our themes are funny, topical and relevant.
06. We’re independent and the authority on it all.
07. iJustine is more than just iCandy. Sheʼs real.
08. Our insider views of LA are unprecedented.

Now this is cool…

“PluggedIn is the only place on the web today where music fans can enjoy free access to more than 10,000 licensed music videos and live concerts in HD and broadcast quality from major music companies such as EMI Music, the world’s leading independent music company, Sony-BMG, and an influential group of other major and independent music labels.”

That’s all & good, but hey, what would a launch about a new music show be without video right…? Here you go…

YouTube Version…

There is ONE “major” problem I found while trying to watch a video on PluggedIn…

I’m using the Flock browser which is based on mozilla firefox… oh well…

Have fun.

God Bless,
Yoon

YouTube Finally Lets You Directly Link To Any Part Of Your Video

Posted by Yoon on Sunday, October 26th 2008

Hi Peeps,

So Google Video has allowed anyone to link to any part of a video that they host… so if you wanted someone to watch a video starting at an hour and 17 minutes into a three hour video(for example) then you could. This has been available for over two years…

Now you can FINALLY do this with YouTube vids… it’s about time!

All you have to do is add this code snippet “#t=5m17s” to the end of the YouTube link(not the Embed code but the link you find in the URL field). As you can guess 5m equates to 5 minutes and 17s is 17 seconds… so you’re linking directly to 5 minutes and 17 seconds into the video.

So anything before the “m” are the minutes and anything between the “m” & “s” are the seconds

Here’s an example(video opens in new window)…
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mteMQh5zD0c#t=1m38s

As you can see, the video starts @ 1 minute and 38 seconds into the video.

So far it looks like there is no way to embed YouTube videos to play starting @ any point other than the very beginning of the video…

God Bless,
Yoon
